Weight Management Medication Treatment
Some oral medications have been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of overweight and obesity. It is essential that those medications should be used in conjunction with healthy nutrition, increased physical activity, and behavior modification, since medication usage without such changes is generally ineffective.

The decision to initiate drug therapy in people considered overweight or obese should be made after consideration of the risks and benefits and the goals of drug therapy should be determined by patient and provider during the initial evaluation. The goal of any treatment (including drug therapy) for people considered overweight is long-term weight reduction and improvement in overall health. To make this goal possible our board-certified professionals at Psychiatry & Beyond support and guide the patients during this process, offering them the proper tools in addition to psychological support, psychoeducation, and motivational sessions as an important part of the treatment plan.
