Psychiatric Authorization for Surgical Interventions

We conduct psychiatric evaluations for the authorization of surgical interventions. Our assessments consider patients’ behavioral, cognitive, emotional, and developmental health. Additionally, we discuss personal motivation, follow-through ability, post-surgical expectations, current living situation, and more. We also offer mental health services during the post-operative recovery stage to help patients cope with the changes that may arise after surgery.

Psychiatric clearance may be required for the following types of surgical procedures:

• Bariatric surgery
• Organ transplant
• Cosmetic surgery
• Placement of a spinal cord stimulator
• IVF or in vitro fertilization
